Natalia Theodoulidis

An entirely handmade book, with every page, cover and stitch crafted by hand. The project originated during my time in Mardin, Turkey, where I sought to expand my practice beyond photography and printmaking and engage more directly with material processes. The paper itself was made from a year's worth of accumulated parts: medicine boxes and other discarded remnants of everyday life. Broken down and transformed into pulp, these materials were given a new form and bound together into a single object. No two pages are the same; each carries its own imperfections.

The making of this book is rooted in patience and repetition. There is an attraction to slow processes that require sustained attention, where labour becomes visible and time leaves its mark. As these materials are collected, pulped, formed, dried, and bound, they are repurposed without losing their memory. Though ordinary and often overlooked, day to day objects carry histories that persist long after their original purposes have been served. Their histories remain ingrained within the paper.
